Look at those recesses in the banks of the Qi ,With their green bamboos , so fresh and luxuriant !

有匪君子、如切如磋、如琢如磨。

There is our elegant and accomplished prince , --
As from the knife and the file ,As from the chisel and the polisher !

瑟兮僩兮、赫兮咺兮。

How grave is he and dignified !How commanding and distinguished !

有匪君子、終不可諼兮。

Our elegant and accomplished prince , --
Never can he be forgotten !

瞻彼淇奧、綠竹青青。

Look at those recesses in the banks of the Qi ,
With their green bamboos , so strong and luxuriant !

有匪君子、充耳琇瑩、會弁如星。

There is our elegant and accomplished prince , --
With his ear-stoppers of beautiful pebbles ,
And his cap , glittering as with stars between the seams !

瑟兮僩兮、赫兮咺兮。

How magnanimous is he and gentle !
There he is in his chariot with its two high sides !

善戲謔兮、不為虐兮。
Skilful is he at quips and jokes ,
But how does he keep from rudeness from them !

硕鼠硕鼠，无食我黍！
Field mouse,field mouse,
Keep away from our millet! 
三岁贯女，莫我肯顾。
Three years we have served you
But what do you care about us? 
逝将去女，适彼乐土。
Now we shall leave you
For a happier realm, 
乐土乐土，爰得我所！
a happy realm
Where we shall have a place.
硕鼠硕鼠，无食我麦！
Field mouse, field mouse,
Keep away from our wheat!　
三岁贯女，莫我肯德。
Three years we have served you,
But what have you done for us? 
逝将去女，适彼乐国。
Now we shall leave you
For a happier land, 
乐国乐国，爰得我直！
A happy land
where we shall get our due.

Keep away from our rice shoots!

爰采唐矣、沬之鄉矣。
I am going to gather the dodder ,
In the fields of Mei .
云誰之思、美孟姜矣。
But of whom are my thoughts ?
Of that beauty , the eldest of the Jiang .
期我乎桑中、要我乎上宮、送我乎淇之上矣。
She made an appontment with me in Sangzhong ;
She will meet me in Shanggong ;
爰采麥矣、沬之北矣。
She will accompany me to Qishang.
I am going to gather the wheat,
In the north of Mei.
云誰之思、美孟弋矣。
But of whom are my thoughts?
Of that beauty, the eldest of the Yi.
期我乎桑中、要我乎上宮、送我乎淇之上矣 。
She made an appontment with me in Sangzhong;
She will meet me in Shanggong;
爰采葑矣、沬之東矣。
She will accompany me to Qishang.
I am going to gather the mustard plant,
In the east of Mei.
云誰之思、美孟庸矣。
But of whom are my thoughts?
Of that beauty, the eldest of the Yong.
期我乎桑中、要我乎上宮、送我乎淇之上矣。
She made an appontment with me in Sangzhong;
She will meet me in Shanggong;
She will accompany me to Qishang.
